When i heard about what was happening to children around the world and right here in our own back yards it was like the walls of my home were lifted and a new world showed through the tears. I was shocked that people could treat children in such a horrific way. My DNA was rewired that day, and i will never forget the children that need our heart and voice. Peace to the team and God speed, and thanks for your vision to help "our" children of the world. You Guys are always winners. See you Race day.

This is my husbands dream, to race and raise money/awareness for food allergic children and their families. We created Sweet Alexis Bakery making delicious treats that are free of dairy, eggs, tree nuts and peanuts. We almost lost our daughter Alexis at 10 months old yet were given not support or information from her doctors. You can read our whole story on our site at www.sweetalexis.com, but basically we decided to turn a negative into a positive and created Sweet Alexis for families such as ours and to advocate for them. My husband just bought a "P.O.S" 57 Ford Wagon in hopes of restoring it to be a racer with the Sweet Alexis logo across the side, raising money and awareness for food allergic children. Kudos and God Bless.

Bruce, when my daughter Christie was 6 years old, she asked if she could have a nut from one of the dishes put out for our Christmas party. A few minutes later, her top lip had swollen to 4 times it's normal size and we were on our way to the hospital (as our guests were arriving). On the way to the hospital, through the tears, she was asking if she would have to have a "shot" and I told her no, they would just put some cream on her lip. To this day, she's still mad at me because within minutes of arriving at the Emergency Room, they gave her several injections and and I.V. was placed in her arm.

When we arrived, she was in anaphylactic shock. Her little 6 year old body was covered in red welts, she was having trouble breathing, and she was swollen everywhere. It was, without a doubt, the worst day of my life. I have never been so scared - ever. I felt terribly guilty about allowing her to eat a tree nut, but she had eaten them many times before with no allergic reaction whatsoever.

This incident took place almost twenty years ago, and to her credit, she has never had another incident like this one. She is very careful not to ingest anything that even has the slightest chance of containing nuts or nut oils. Every time she goes to a restaurant she asks the server if anything on the menu contains nuts. Interestingly, most servers do not have the respect for food allergies that is needed. Most reply: "I don't know... I don't think so..." We have to explain that if she ingests a nut, she will have to be taken to the nearest hospital. This generally gets their attention.

I thank you, your family, and your team for the work you are doing for children with allergies, and I wholeheartedly support your cause. Please let me know how I can contribute the the important work you are doing.

Thanks, and good luck at the Rolex 24 in Daytona. Be safe.

PS: See you there!
