New chassis for TRG #71
Deficit spending….seems to work for our government…so why not our race team? Sometimes, the stars all come into alignment and you’re actually worse for wear if you DON’T seize the day. This is today’s situation.
It’s been such a tough year for all teams and yet the perfect year for a team that built it’s entire 15 year history scrapping it out in….***GASP**….sportscar. Much to the dismay of the team’s naysayers, we’ve tried to make so much from so little. Every race that we planned to race started with a new motor ($65k/ea) and we’ve only had the one COT chassis until now…..which is the heart of the issue….it’s NOW or NEVER. Here is owner Kevin Buckler’s remarks to the limited partners this morning.

We are hoping for a good race today. Sluggar & Mike & Bobby worked hard on the car & got it pretty good for long race runs but we never found the perfect Hot Lap setup. Qualifying 26th is still pretty strong considering the teams behind us.
As we have seen, we will hopefully watch Bobby drive a little stronger than most on the back half of the stint & tires.
Sluggar & Mike dug up a 15K sponsor at the track last night that wanted the hood so we will probably do that & stick the winery or something on the rear unless something else falls out of the sky.
We didn’t get all the money in so Monday will be tough for Debra so we will have to all keep working on that.

We Bobby Labonte fans appreciate you guys (and gals) more than you will ever know. We are proud to be a small part of such a determined group of people. You deserve a driver and person like Bobby and he seems thrilled to be a part of your team. Nothing would make us all happier than to see you grt the financial backing to become a “championship” team in reality as you already are to us.
I completely agree with Calvin. I have become a TRG/Kevin/Slugger/Team fan because of the incredible passion, hard work and comittment from this group of unbelievable people. This is racing at its finest.
