Guardian Angel Motorsports - Spreading it's Wings

Guardian Angel Motorsports - Spreading The Love

Today brought the drop dead date for Guardian Angel Motorsports and Team Polizei 144 to commit to our racing partners The Racers Group.   Today - we had to irrevocably commit to the Watkins Glen race and it’s expense or not.

As luck would have it, we’ve got 3-5 corporate sponsorship balls in the air but none that look as though they’re going to drop in time for th 8.6.09 departure for practice.   This is a big bummer as we’re out there with all we’ve got and neither strategic partner in this joint venture has experienced failure in meeting a goal yet.   While the orchestra is still playing, we’re getting nervous that we’ll be forced to either deficit spend like our illustrious political leaders or simply withdraw.

Our approach then was to have a conference call with TRG’s leader, Kevin-the-swash-Buckler and lay out the SFN (sad flippin’ news).   We don’t have 100% - but we do have - a donated car, 50% of the cash, a few potential sponsors and an infrastructure for online, smart marketing like nobody’s business.   We also needed to get an assessment of the #63 car.  Where is it? What prep does it require?  How are we on tires? etc, etc, etc.

His news for us was that he’d picked up a regional sponsor that would allow him to run BOTH David Gilliland in the #71 car AS WELL AS letting road racing, go-karting and bicycle-jumping-into-an-Atlanta-swamp legend, Andy Lally debut in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup.   We offered our online marketing machine which would be onsite anyway (for our Grand Am race).

He was intrigued as it all seemed to be a good fit.   The plan is for him to sleep on it and confer with us in the late morning tomorrow, Saturday - August 1st.  Until then, it’s just more of the same….

No trophy, no flowers, no flash bulbs, no wine.
He’s haunted by something he cannot define.
Bowel shaking earthquakes of doubt and remorse,
Assail him, impale him with monster truck force.
In his mind he’s still driving, still making the grade.
She’s hoping time that her memories will fade,
Cause he’s racing and pacing and plotting the course,
He’s fighting and biting and riding on his horse.

The sun has gone down and the moon has come up,
And long ago somebody left with the cup.
But he’s striving and driving and hugging the turns,
And thinking of someone for whom he still burns.

Cause he’s going the distance.
He’s going for speed….
