The “Clash” at the Glen

It was a stressful trip for all to arrive at the PCA Clash this past weekend.  Lot’s of late arrivals the night before as the rain and prep for the first meaningful outing of the 2009 season took it’s toll on the participants.

While it’s the standard club proceedure, it’s an unconventional driver education process to have check in for track waivers at the ‘off-site’ registration building and then have registration in the garages.  It meant for lots of confusion and frustration to people who would show up at the gate only to be turned away with trailers in tow for a drive around the corner and back.   You can only imagine the scrambling to get situated before a fast, concentration focused day.  Very unsettling.

Guardian Angel Motorsports had a very slow morning as this was the car’s first day back after the ‘Esses’ incident just 3 weeks back.   We spent the morning on the scales as we had to take the ‘theory’ that the car was not bent and make it into a reality on the scales.   This took more than 3 hours but did allow the rain to stop and the track to dry.   It was fun to use that time to say hello to everyone we hadn’t seen in 6 months.   All in all - a fun and entertaining way to begin the weekend.
