Have you ever felt taunted by your airline hostess? Demeaned? Patronized? Treated like cattle? I’m sure you’ve NEVER felt that your needs were trivial when compared to either the service personnel’s or the greater group. Well if you are the RARE jet traveller that has felt that way, I’m going to let you in on a little secret I learned from a Mason client on his death bed.
Our travel needs are extreme given Colin & Emily’s food allergies. They both have toxic sensitivity to peanuts. Officially it’s categorized as ‘airborne’. ’Airborne’ sensitivity is when simply popping the lid or opening the package can induce an anaphylactic shock.
In the past, we’ve been told that it’s completely unreasonable to request peanuts be omitted from a flight. One phone rep even went so far as to imply that the kids could hold their nose if necessary (kidding)…but it felt that extreme. Then Linda read some SUPER positive remarks on the Food Allergy & Anaphylactic Network about jetBlue. It was an understatement.
They are so, so, so hands on for the kids its amazing. The person at the gate makes an announcement to the waiting people. The pilot usually says hello to the kids and invariably plucks a set of lapel wings magically from his pocket which produces huge enthusiasm from the Ledoux Circus. As we board, the service people greet us on the plan and review the snacks with Linda to ensure safety. Countless times they come down to our seats and get Linda’s input on ingredients saying something, “I was reading these ingredients and had a question about this one…”
I like the sense of humor in the corporate philosophy as all the planes have names.
So when Matt met Dennis Lorenzo by chance, it seemed like the universe was talking to us. After some
back and forth as well as some in car footage where we’d taped a jetBlue logo on the dash board along with our ‘aircraft’s’ name - Blue by You. We have a new corporate sponsor in jetBlue.
It’s too perfect a matching. Especially when Children’s Hospital had asked their partner American Airlines and they skoffed. Dennis Lorenzo had this quote, “…I must tell you that Guardian Angels and JetBlue Airways has something very in common, and that is the PASSION that we carry in each our causes. Not sure if you are aware Bruce, both CARE and PASSION are two out of the five (5) Core Values that we all live by in JetBlue Airways. (The other three are Safety, Integrity & Fun)…”
Welcome aboard jetBlue, we’re sure you’ll enjoy our ride & as always, we’re delighted to have you with us!
